Different creative outlets – what happened when writing, my creative home, didn’t work anymore

On the picture above you see how I spent most of the last six months: drawing. No writing at all (no blog post, no IG, not even journaling) – which was highly unusual. Due to several reasons I was very exhausted and did not have the capacity left to write. I was out of words.

But I felt I could still draw. So that was what I focussed on. Just colours and shapes, experimenting with different tools, techniques, ideas (yes, you’ll get to see some of the work 🙂 ).

Not having to think about meaningful words was so relieving.

I was also more into listening to music at this time, probably for the same reason.

In that time of limited resources I took baby steps just to keep going. Making time for creativity without overwhelming myself. And even if it felt like snail pace – it still meant moving forward.

Now, after processing some things and changing some circumstances things start to feel easier again. With that comes more bandwidth, energy and also the desire to write.

It was so interesting experiencing these kinds of changing creative outlets. When writing, my usual creative home, didn’t work anymore drawing and music filled that space and gave me the chance to channel and express emotions without having to think much.

An empowering and comforting experience.

Have you ever experienced something similar?

Take care, I cheer you on!

Annika
